Astrology Foundations

Course Overview

This foundational course is designed for beginners who are curious about astrology but do not yet have a clear framework. Instead of superstition or fatalism, we focus on astrology as a symbolic language and a psychological map of life cycles. You will learn the three core building blocks of a natal chart—**signs, planets and houses**—and how they weave together into a coherent story about character, potential and timing.

By the end of the course, you will be able to read your own chart at a basic level, recognise core themes in the charts of others, and understand what astrologers mean when they talk about “energy”, “archetypes” and “aspects”.

Course Outline

Chapter 1: What Is Astrology and What Is a Birth Chart?

  • The difference between symbolic astrology and fortune-telling
  • The maxim “as above, so below” and why astrology is not strict determinism
  • What data you need to cast a chart (date, time, place)
  • A quick tour of the chart wheel: zodiac band, houses, planets and aspect lines
  • Recommended free tools to generate your own chart

  • Chapter 2: The Twelve Signs as Energy Styles

  • Fire, Earth, Air and Water: four basic energy types
  • Cardinal, Fixed and Mutable: three operating modes
  • Short archetypal portraits of the twelve signs
  • How your Sun, Moon and Ascendant express sign energy in different ways

  • Chapter 3: The Ten Planets as Psychological Functions

  • Inner planets (Sun, Moon, Mercury, Venus, Mars) as personal drives
  • Outer planets (Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, Neptune, Pluto) as collective and transformative forces
  • “Planet in Sign” as “what function” working “in which style”

  • Chapter 4: The Twelve Houses as Life Arenas

  • Houses as concrete life areas: self, money, communication, home, creativity, work, partnership, shared resources, travel, career, friends and the unconscious
  • How planets in houses show where energy is most active in daily life

  • Chapter 5: Putting It Together

  • The core formula: **planet (what) in sign (how) in house (where)**
  • Simple examples of reading configurations in real charts
  • Ethical principles: using astrology to support, not to scare

  • Study Tips

  • Learn step by step: first signs, then planets, then houses
  • Use your own chart as the primary practice case
  • Keep a dedicated notebook for key words, insights and life correlations
  • Compare charts of friends or public figures to deepen your pattern recognition

  • Summary

Astrology Foundations gives you the basic grammar of the astrological language. With it, you can begin to decode the symbolic map of your own life and approach future techniques—transits, progressions, relationship charts—with confidence and curiosity.
